Help Keep Our Hospice Op Shops Thriving
Our op shop volunteers play a vital role at Hospice West Auckland: their generosity and dedication make a significant difference, because every purchase made in our op shops helps generate essential income which enables us to provide compassionate care and support to patients and their whānau at no cost.
With nine teams of more than 250 retail volunteers, our network of Hospice op shops relies on passionate people to help create welcoming, well-run stores. Volunteers sort and prepare donated goods, manage stock, serve customers and operate the till. Every person and every hour of time help transform generously donated items into vital funding for Hospice care.
As an op shop volunteer, you’ll join a friendly, supportive team, build new skills, meet like-minded people, and make a genuine contribution to your local community. Volunteering also offers valuable retail experience and opportunities to develop confidence and practical workplace skills. No previous volunteer experience is required. All applicants complete a Hospice orientation, followed by role-specific training and ongoing one-to-one and team support.
We offer the GRIP Gateway Programme in our Hospice Op Shops, providing the opportunity for students to earn NCEA Level 2 credits while gaining hands-on retail experience. Please click here for more details on the Gateway Programme.
